Answers to the most common questions about the subscription, bookings, cancellations, the member rate and gift cards.

What does the Private Honors subscription include?

As long as your subscription is active, the member rate is applied automatically to the prices you see: there is no code to enter when booking. The discount is a share of the commission we earn on the rate you book, and the amount charged is that rate minus the discount — we add no booking fee.

How do I cancel my subscription?

Your subscription is managed from your account: the “Manage my payment method” button opens the Stripe billing portal, through which all subscription management goes. A cancellation takes effect at the end of the period already paid for: the member rate keeps applying until then. At that point the subscription is marked as cancelled on our side, the member rate stops applying and a confirmation email is sent to you.

How is my subscription billed?

Stripe charges you according to the plan you chose, monthly or yearly, and the subscription renews automatically; the next renewal date is shown in your account. If a payment fails, the subscription is suspended, the member rate stops applying immediately and an email notifies you; it is restored as soon as a payment succeeds again.

How do I book a hotel?

Search for a destination and dates, open a hotel page and pick a rate. Checkout then runs in three steps: your stay, your details (email, phone, country of residence and the lead guest of each room), then payment. No account is required to book; you need one, with an active subscription, to get the member rate.

How does payment work?

Payment takes place on a page hosted by Stripe, which you are redirected to from the summary: card details are entered at Stripe, never on our site. A Private Honors gift card can be applied before payment; its balance is deducted from the total and, if it covers the whole amount, no card payment is requested.

When is my booking confirmed?

Once the payment is captured, the order is sent to our hotel partner and we track its status until a definitive answer comes back, usually in under a minute. If no definitive answer arrives, the booking stays “being processed” and an automatic retry takes over; you are notified by email as soon as the outcome is known — a confirmation, or a failure along with a refund.

What is the cancellation policy?

It is not set by Private Honors: each rate carries its own conditions, provided by the hotel partner. The hotel's rate list shows, for each rate, either a free-cancellation deadline, or a “non-refundable” note, or “cancellation terms not specified” when the partner does not provide them; the deadline, when there is one, is repeated on the stay summary before payment. We store it together with your booking, along with any penalties of the rate you chose.

How do I cancel my booking?

From your booking page, whose link is in every email about that booking and in your account history. Online cancellation is offered only within the rate's free-cancellation window, and it closes 60 minutes before the deadline; the button asks for a confirmation before sending anything. On a confirmed booking outside that window, the page shows our customer service address.

When am I refunded after a cancellation?

The refund is requested from Stripe immediately after the cancellation, with no partial amount: it therefore covers everything that was charged, on the original payment method. Any part paid with a gift card is credited back to the card. Private Honors does not set a delay for the funds to arrive — that depends on Stripe and on your bank. If the refund fails, the booking is flagged for manual handling: it is never left cancelled without a refund.

How does the member rate work?

It is computed on our servers, rate by rate: we take the commission we earn on that rate and give you back a share of it, deducted from the displayed price. The discount therefore comes out of our margin, never out of the price negotiated with the hotel. It appears on the order summary, on the “Member rate applied” line, before any payment.

Why does the member rate vary from one rate to another?

Because the discount is a share of our commission, and that commission differs from one rate to another: two rooms at the same displayed price do not necessarily give the same discount. And when the computed discount stays below the configured minimum, no discount is applied: the public price is charged instead. Finally, some rates give no discount at all: when our hotel partner does not report a usable commission on a rate, we compute none and the public price applies.

How do I use a gift card?

Enter its code on the payment page of your booking, before submitting the form. The code is checked right then: the card must exist, not be cancelled, not be expired, have a non-zero balance and the same currency as the booking. The amount shown afterwards is an estimate — the actual debit happens when you submit the form, never before.

What if my gift card balance does not cover the whole amount?

The debit is partial: we take the smaller of the card balance and the booking total. If something is left to pay, the Stripe payment page covers that remainder only; if the card covers everything, no card payment is requested. Any unused balance stays on the card, and if the booking does not go through (payment expired, failure, cancellation) the debited amount is credited back.

Where do I find my bookings and my account information?

In your account: subscription status, plan and next renewal date, referral programme, and your most recent bookings, each with a link to its management page. A booking appears there when the email used at checkout is the one on your account; otherwise the link received by email remains the way to reach it.
