Terms
How Private Honors works: the membership, bookings, prices, gift cards and referrals. The full legal terms will be published later; until then, any question can be sent to contact@privatehonors.com.
Purpose
Private Honors is a subscription-based hotel booking platform: an active membership unlocks a member rate that is applied automatically to displayed prices. This page describes how the service works — what the membership covers, how a booking is placed and confirmed, how prices are made up, and how gift cards and referrals work.
Definitions
“Member” means the holder of an active membership. “Member rate” means the displayed price minus a discount computed on our servers, rate by rate. “Hotel partner” means the supplier that sends us availability and prices, and that places the booking with the property. “Gift card” means a Private Honors credit usable toward payment for a booking.
Membership
Two plans are available, individual and company, monthly or yearly; you subscribe from the Memberships page and Stripe collects the payment, with automatic renewal. While the membership is active, the member rate applies to bookings made with that account. Payment method changes and cancellation go through the Stripe billing portal, opened from your account. A failed payment suspends the membership: the member rate then stops applying and an email tells you so.
Booking
Private Honors acts as an intermediary: the booking is placed with the property by our hotel partner. Availability, prices and cancellation conditions are not set by Private Honors: they are those of the booked rate, as communicated by the partner, shown before payment and stored with the booking. A booking is confirmed only after a final answer from the partner; if it does not go through, the amount charged is refunded.
Prices and payment
Displayed prices are those communicated by the hotel partner for the rate concerned, in euros; Private Honors adds no booking fee. For a member, the summary shows the public price and then a “Member rate applied” line, and the amount charged is the one after the discount. Some rates carry taxes or fees that the partner flags as not included: they are listed on the summary and are not part of the amount charged. Payment takes place on a page hosted by Stripe; card details do not pass through our servers.
Gift cards
A gift card is bought in a single payment, with no membership or account required, and Stripe handles that payment. Once the payment is captured, a unique code is issued and emailed to the buyer, and to the recipient when an address was provided. The card is an internal credit: its code is entered when paying for a booking, it can be redeemed partially, any unused balance stays on the card, and the amount redeemed is credited back if the booking does not go through. Every card carries an expiry date.
Referral
Every account has a referral code and a link to share. Anyone who creates an account from that link, or enters the code when signing up, is linked to their referrer. A reward is recorded on the referred person's first paid subscription, once per referred person; its amount is the one configured by Private Honors, and it is paid out after a manual review.
